7 Page spread on the GTS1000 in the Classic Motorcycle Mechanic April edition. Starts not liking it on the basis of looks and past reviews, but by the end loves it.

Seems to think there are only 6 left in the UK, got that bit wrong.

Mine is SORN'ed and still lurking under a cover in a friend's garage. However, I got it shown in this month's Classic Motorcycle Mechanics magazine in the letters section, when I replied to the road test on the GTS1000 they did in the previous issue (April 2008).

I was told many, many years ago that about 70 were officially imported into the UK. Very few people ordered a new one, so the dealer road-test bikes all got sold off a bit cheaper. Due to the £11k price tag in 1993/94 about another 30 or so came in as ex-European grey-imports, so there were roughly 100 new GTS's registered in the UK. Quite a few more have since come in as used imports so how many are now on the road (or registered at least) is anybody's guess. At least two of the nine I have owned were sold to people who were going to use them as a base for a special, never to be heard of again.

I did hear that the total imported to the UK was about 90 and some were still in the original crates as late as 2001. I wonder if there are any crated ones still out there?

the one I've got is not in a crate but from a private collection with 106 miles from new,...it was first registered in 2002.
