Cheers. My welding uncle in law had a look at it last night and is confident he can put bend in pipe to correct alignment. Ill show him what you did and will update on how we get on after the weekend.

I take it you don't have a hanger/bracket on exhaust anymore. Thus would be positioned around same area as you have lambda sensor?

It was and is a pigging nightmare. Although we eventually got exhaust cut and welded to fit bike it wasn't right and as a result lower fairing wouldn't fit due to wider downpipes at front and due to angle of the pipe coming out from underneath rear brake. Currently considering a repair on the old cat and putting in original system. My advice to anyone considering it is don't. It's too much hassle and really not any big payoff. On plus side I did get to enjoy a mini Northern Ireland tour in the GTS a couple of weekends ago after it sailed through its first MOT in 7 years it ran beautifully and was a pleasure to ride.

Today my frustration is trying to find replacement exhaust port flanges as I accidently chucked out the original ones. Grrrrrr.

I can't see what your problem was as I got mine fitted ok, with a very minor tweak to the fairing (Dreml - 10mm) where the pipe comes out on the RHS. I am getting a lot closer to finishing on my full rebuild and hope to have a trial run on the engine this week, so I will take some more photos, but just on looks and weight saving I think the replacement was a good idea.

Excellent work and thanks for digging up those photos. I wil resurrect this thread to note my bike came with a stock FZR1000 exhaust. I don't know how it might have been modified exactly, if at all, but the center stand has been removed and the exhaust is tight against the mounting point for the stand. Not great. The muffler was also hitting the rear swingarm. I bent the bracket on the muffler, and beat a recess in the oioe so the brake lever no longer hits it. I am planning a wedge to angle things down and away from the center stand mount. The O2 sensor is mounted in a flat plate bolted up where the EXUP valve used to be.

Question:. Is the center of the exhaust system supposed to be bolted to the frame somewhere near the centerstand? If so, where? Mine is only attached to the bike at the head and the bracket on the muffler.

On my rebuild I haven't remounted any attachments at the centre and it seems stable enough. In fact the brake lever was slightly touching the exhaust   and it has now sagged a couple of millimetres and has got into its "natural" position and the brake lever now clears the exhaust.
