Airfilter, what kind to use?

Postby gtsrobban » Sat Jan 05, 2013 6:53 am

Hi! I am in the middle of modifying my bike with fzr exhaust and more open airbox. But I am not sure what kind of filter to use. Stock or more open?
Since this forum is like an ocean to pore from, I am sure to get a proper answer?

Even stock shoudn't be a problem... but the airbox could.
Some here have enlarged air intakes.
If a man says he will fix it, he will !
There's no need to remind him every six months about it.

Air filter

OEM air filter is OK, K&N is washable, or make your own by converting old OEM part.

I just use OEM or pattern part, never bought the K&N yet. I might do one day, but it won't make that much difference to the air flow.

I think reticulated foam is best (longest service life and best performance too), but some don't like it, because it can burn with blowback flames, and the ash/dirt then gets in the engine, but most have a layer of material to stop this happening.

No doubt you've seen this. :D

I've just started riding the GTS again, and it'll be changing
