Fitting a Givi top box plate

Postby Mark Henry » Tue Dec 19, 2017 10:29 pm

Without fitting side bars and carrier does anyone know is there a fitting kit available to bolt the top box mounting tray/plate directly onto the rear cowling behind the seat?

Anyone done it

I have. I made up two wooden blocks to fit into the grooves the rubber things normally go in.

I then got a universal plate and screwed one lot of bolts (rear) through the rack and wood into the bike threaded holes.

The other lot (front) don't line up with the bike, so I bolted the wood yo the bike, and used chunky threaded screws to fix the plate to the wood.

Been fine for carrying 1pkg of laptop, lunch and paperwork for several months.

Hi Magnus,

I’ve edited the photo entries:
Instead of “https://www.dropbox.com/s/ur9g3awtklmn4yi/2018-01-04%2021.28.01.jpg?dl=1
it should be:

So instead of dl=1 at the end put in raw=1.

Looks great - and with the spacers I'm guessing pretty much a straight fit onto the rear.

It was attached to mine when I bought it so it will fit quite neatly.
You send me a fair offer for what you think it's worth for you and pay the shipping and you will have yourself a bracket for the spring.

Sorry, but over time you get with this mounting a problem, either break the screws, or due to the vibrations break the threads. That's why I've built an additional support, and this holds since 2003 without any problems. Have a look at my homepage
