The "Legacy" is back on the road!

Postby shadowstrat » Mon Apr 25, 2016 1:10 pm

Hello everyone,

After 5 (I know) long years, and an amazing lack of time, finally I have my own GTS, working and riding properly!
I try to post some photos ;) :coffee:

Happy to ride it!
If in doubt, flat out!

5 Years... Wow! Well done.

I have had projects on-going for that long - but not any big ones I've managed to finally finish (yet)

Hi there.

I have been in a similar position, except that my GTS has been sitting under a cover waiting for an attack of enthusiasm .It went on hold after I failed to sort out a matched pair of wheels for the bike (VFR750 rear, standard front) and I kind of lost all impetus. Last week, after at least two years I put some fresh fuel in the tank and a charged battery on the bike and it fired up almost straight away. Now I have to decide what to do with it. The paintwork is very tatty (as is most of the rest of the bike after two years outside under a cover), the after-market headlamp is crap, and I still don't like the front wheel. Plus I have another ten bikes, all of which need time, love, money, or just riding!

Having owned the bike in it's various incarnations for nearly twenty years I can't face the idea of getting rid of it, plus I have spent an obscene amount of money on the various modifications that I would never recoup, I think the only realistic plan is a full strip-down and tidy-up, modify the front fairing to suit a better headlamp, then get the bodywork professionally custom-painted, and get my finger out and get a pair of wheels made. All of which take more time and money than I currently have. Bugger!

Maybe I will just rat it and ride it this Summer, and play next Winter instead. Who knows.

Thank you all ;)

Yes, 5 Years of starting and not finishing. To lead to a restart or so everytime!
I Still have a lot to do. But I don't know if I will make her up. In this shape it became a very good all purpose bike (or so). And the cosmetics should lead it to be the "Week-end" machine ;)

Anyway, I hope you will (for those of you who have job to work on) succes ;)
If in doubt, flat out!
