OEM German tank bag accessory

What have you got bolted onto your bike, or draining the battery?

OEM German tank bag accessory

Postby 24c » Sat Sep 05, 2009 7:31 pm

I have never been a fan of the Bagster set up for the GTS, but whilst on the 2009 Treffen, I say quite a few OEM Yamaha tank bags, that looked real neat.

OK so it's an eBay thing to get hold of one, or get them remade, but does anybody know the OEM part number. Been looking and not got anywhere, so I am hoping somebody knows something out there.

Will post a pic later, as missus has got the only working camera, and my Canon G9 didn't like the chuck out of the window, complete with rest of bum bag, Kriega R8, down the M25.
I've just started riding the GTS again, and it'll be changing

Mikey, the OEM is neat, but have you seen the Baehr setup...stunning imho - if you can find one.

Hi,

Has anyone modified and fitted a non-GTS tank cover, as the originals never seem to come up for sale.

Many thanks

Was the original a Yamaha made one, or was it a different brand model especifically made for Yamaha?

I got a bagster that the seller gave away with the bike when I purchase it, but I don´t know wether it is original or not...

OmegaChassis knows how, I think he has two of them....and used them. Maybe even Doug Long, might remember too.

Hi Pachi,

I posted the same question a long while back. I was given a Bagster tank protector when I bought my bike as well. After looking at the instalation intructions on Bagsters website It became clear that the front straps are just long enough to go around the steering head and get tied to the other side of the bag. They don't have to be ultra tight as the bag stays on very firmly with the elasticised side straps.

I've had no trouble with it since I put it on about a year ago and getting to the petrol tank or top storage unit is very easy to do.
