Audio system for a GTS?

What have you got bolted onto your bike, or draining the battery?

Audio system for a GTS?

Postby Pachi » Sat Apr 11, 2009 8:53 pm

Hi all.

I am thinking about setting up an audio system on the GTS. I´ve searched the forum to no avail, so I come here to ask for tips or directions.

Not sure if I placed the question in the right place. My apologies if not. I´m sure mods will take good care of it.

Thanks in advance.

I do use my Garmin Zümo 550 and my helmett's bluetooth headset when I wish to listen some music.
I don't think external speakers will do the job (except, maybe, when the bike is in neutral ^^)
If a man says he will fix it, he will !
There's no need to remind him every six months about it.

Well, I am more inclined to the first solution, since the second is "more or less" prohibited here. I mean, here in Spain it is not allowed to ride with any sound device in your ears, though there is some discussion as to wether the ban includes loudspeakers inside the helmet.

In any case, the firs one I like more, though the one you showed I don´t think would fit well in the GTS´s fairing with all that chrome and size, but something closer to the fitting on board BMWs.

Thanks 24c. I will search the web from that link.

Hi Pachi,

I don´t use a SatNav, though most people do, as use the Bluetooth for comms and listen to music, and Traffic Police usually don´t bother about it, so it is a pretty usual issue. Even trainees for the rider´s licence ride the training bike with a comms system linked to the trailing car where the instructor is.

The issue is the law is not clear in that regard. Not that I mind much, but I do like the riding with the music coming out of the fairing, like a friend of mine, who owns a spectacular R1200RT, usually does. Of course, I will not hear anything when in a motorway, but on slower roads, or cities, it seems like a good idea to me. Ride the GTS at an easy pace on an open, winding road listening to, say, Van Morrison, or Eagles and you are in heaven!!.
