Hello from Dunfermline, Scotland

Postby Feynman » Sat Jun 23, 2018 11:29 am

My name is Joe or Joseph :D ...I am 61 and have been riding motorcycles since I was 16.
When I was younger, I raced bikes for a hobby from 1980 to 1992...old age has brought the aches and pains from that misspent youth .

Recently bought a March 1993 GTS 1000,25000 Miles (could never have afforded when I was younger) from a dealer in Kent just a few days ago.
Driving the bike home (500 miles) I was starting to regret my purchase.
Like all 25 year old bikes there are a few issues,a couple quite serious.

Will post a few photographs and most likely ask for advice / help with the problems.

Ps...The gearing is incredibly low. The stability from the front end is amazing .

I know it took me by surprise when I first got mine.

Was that the green one you bought?

What did you find that made you concerned/regretful
May the 16th shall now be known as GTS day

It’s blue I think, not had out on the road since I drove back from Kent.

The gearing I’m hoping to change to a 43t or 38t sprocket...Maybe 38 is too small...(it’s 530)
The ignition switch is in poor condition, need to jiggle it to get it to switch on...a bit scary
No abs , pump is suspected to be the issue.
Missing little panel for the oil filler area.

The seat to footrests ,even with my short legs it’s not comfortable. I suspect it’s worse on my bike as the Corbin seat looks like it’s had foam removed :(
