Rear brake disk

Postby Tomaziux » Wed Dec 27, 2017 2:40 pm

Hi to all,
GTS has nice ventilated rear brake disk. It's quite hard to find it on sale or it has high price (brand new).
Please tell a secret - is there analogue of these discs? what are You using?
Or any other motorcycles has such discs? it would be great to have wider search field :)

Thank You in advance.

The FJ1200 has the same disk on the front wheel. I don't know from wich construction year.

Rear disk from the old V-max is the same as is one of the big Yamaha cruiser/tourers. Pretty easy to find on eBay or similar once you know all the cross-overs

All years of the FJ have the same disk and caliper as the GTS. Either front or tear, or both!

Not sure if the XJR also has the same rear?

Pretty sure FJ1100/1200 front disks were larger diameter. They definitely have different attachment. Later 1200 front disks were not radially vented either.

Hi Tomaziux. During the recent rebuild of my GTS viewtopic.php?f=55&t=3327 I couldn't find a ventilated disc, so I went with an in-vented disc. Plenty of ebay, but go for a recognised maker.

If it is identical then Yamaha will have combined the parts under one part number. If you go on Fowlers, or MSP, cmsnl and the part isn't available for the GTS then it will tell you what the part number was for the item and what it was also used on.
