Yamaha GTS UK Meeting 2017

Postby Searcher » Thu Feb 23, 2017 8:13 pm

Here goes
So how about giving this another try.
There aren't many of us in the UK, and so likely it will be the last time this ever happens.
Could be one for the history books.
I propose Sunday 20th August.
Venue to be decided once the locations of those who would be interested have been collated.
It will be somewhere convenient for everyone.
Of course not restricted to owners of GTS's, but the more the merrier.
I suggest either a pub, or bike meeting venue.
Meeting about midday for lunch.
It will also give us the chance to see Jorojins freshly restored GTS.
Should be something very special if progress so far is anything to go by
8)
This is last chance saloon for such an event.
If it doesn't happen this time, I don't believe it ever will.
In the UK at least.
I'd prefer to keep this via PM at this stage, and I will update everyone nearer the time.
If anyone has any other GTS connections, please link up this thread.
If you are not a member of this board, but would like to get in touch please email

Many thanks.

Hi All
It has been pointed out to me that the date I suggested clashes with the European GTS meeting.
So it won't be the 20th August now obviously.
I'll wait till hopefully I get a little more interest then agree a date with those wishing to participate.
Four so far including me.

It's a pity, unfortunately, on 20 August, the last day of the European GTS-Meeting 2017, and since I have participated in every annual meeting since 2002, I will also participate this time.
Also for 1 lunch to go to England, I think it is not worth it.

Well, I'd be up for meeting. Of course, I don't have the old GTS any more but still would like to see some old friends and meet some new ones.

Thought I'd post here rather than PM you as people are funny buggers - if they can't see interest from others, they are less likely to show their own interest.

In the past, UK meets have been difficult to get going but it's a great many years since we tried and I'm hoping it'll be more successful than in the past. From memory, the largest group we got was 9 bikes. Would be great if that could be beaten!

For info, I'm in the West Midlands

I did seriously consider another GTS when I was in the market last year but took advantage of having just bought the wife a new E-Class, to enable me to buy new, so went for a proper hoolie-bike for once.

There's a GTS trike about Manchester way, using my old bike. I'd love to see that too but have so far failed to get contact with the guy. If any of you happen across it though, please do get him to get in touch.
