Brand New Front Disc For Sale

Postby Peter Halm » Wed Aug 19, 2015 6:34 pm

Hi ....
i have a mate that tells me he can get brand new front discs made for the GTS 1000
We would need to order in bulk as they can get them down to about £175 to £200 each plus VAT depending on the order size..it will take about 4 to 8 weeks to put the order through as they have to schedule the production and set up to make them. If no one is interested thats fine ,,,,,he will just make me a couple over one winter weekend.
Let me know your thoughts please and if we can put an order together.
Pete

Could you tell us more ?
Same metal as the OEM ? Possible to have something beter (lighter b.e.) ?
Carbon ? Ceramic ? ^^
If a man says he will fix it, he will !
There's no need to remind him every six months about it.

I'm new here and doing due diligence while considering buying a low miler 1993. Lo and behold, you lot are working on a disc solution the day I am making my decision to buy a GTS of my very own.

You English are cool! I wish I still lived there. :D

Hey ....
I have had my GTS about 8 weeks and its a very special bike...its worth the time hunting around for parts ....if it was easy they wouldn't be so rare and cool.....if you can't buy it get it made....
Have fun

Will they be also floating disks, riveted in the hub like the original one?

Just for anybody else's benefit, a few folks have modded their front ends and fitted different discs and calipers. The place where I get my engine bits made, also does disc carriers, so I have a plan when I'm ready, and I also made enquiries with another company about making a new disc.

I'll be looking at a thinner disc and longer pistons, but I am just waiting to find out if this system has ventilated disc capability. or whether it's necessary. Personally, I'd rather have more air cooling, better heat capacity, as my disc will blue up under hard braking

Good luck Peter.

Hey Mike
Have you had any type of disc made....its going to be interesting to see how these guys propose to build this disc....
Anyway ....we will see....once i have the old disc i can hand it over and see what ideas they come up with.

I'm game if an OEM spec/design can be reached. A worthwhile investment sat on the shelf, if even to build confidence in buyers at eventual resale.
