Re: How many left on the road in the UK?

Mine is SORN'ed and still lurking under a cover in a friend's garage. However, I got it shown in this month's Classic Motorcycle Mechanics magazine in the letters section, when I replied to the road test on the GTS1000 they did in the previous issue (April 2008). I was told many, many years ago that...

Re: Weight loss?

A modern twin-spar swinging fork and hollow-spoke rear wheel are a good place to start (after junking the exhaust). My VFR750 single-sider was heavier than the standard set-up, but it was what I had and I liked the look, so on it went. I have a Suzuki SRAD 600 alloy rear sub-frame and bodywork on it...

Re: The "Legacy" is back on the road!

Hi there. I have been in a similar position, except that my GTS has been sitting under a cover waiting for an attack of enthusiasm .It went on hold after I failed to sort out a matched pair of wheels for the bike (VFR750 rear, standard front) and I kind of lost all impetus. Last week, after at least...

I thought about fitting a VFR400 17" rear wheel to my project bike some while ago but got no further than thinking about it. However,I currently have a spare GTS front wheel and NC24 rear in my shed, so have just had a quick look at them. I think you would need to machine about 20mm (guestimate...

The first one is now re-listed with a £2k buy-it-now price. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=281387413051 I sold it to him three years ago, and it was a good bike, and in good condition. I spoke to him recently and he has barely used it since as he works away from home a lot....

Thanks for that. I have tried to phone Steelheart Engineering over the last week, but constantly get an engaged tone. I can't find an email address for them either, so I don't know if they have gone out of business or are on holiday, or whatever.

I emailed Tayolmade Wheels about widening the rim and they replied, "Sorry but cannot do it". I phoned to ask why and left a message on their answerphone, but haven't received a reply yet.

Pair of large Krauser K2 panniers for sale. No fittings.

I have decided that I might as well part with my spare panniers now, as I don't think I will be getting another GTS until I clear some of my current fleet out of the way. Attached is the eBay link.

I have a spare pair of extra-wide (they came in two sizes) Krauser K2 panniers off my old GTS in good condition, but a bit faded from age. I was planning to fit them to my new BT1100 Bulldog, but haven't found a fitting kit for it yet.

Oops, my mistake, or wishful thinking! I will change it now.

The black GTS special has six gears, as it has a Thunderace engine fitted.
